Eddie Hall quit strongman and lost over 100lbs after doctor made terrifying comment about his health

Eddie Hall says one startling comment prompted him to totally change his life.

‘The Beast’ walked away from his strongman career after becoming ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ in 2017.

Since then, Eddie Hall has lost a ton of weight and launched new careers in boxing and MMA.

The 37-year-old has now revealed why he walked away at the peak of his strongman powers.

Why did Eddie Hall retire from strongman?

Eddie Hall recently revealed that he’s lost ‘eight stone’ (112lbs) since walking away from his first sport.

It was a bold decision prompted by a doctor who had grave concerns about the Englishman’s health.

“I walked away from strongman because of health implications,” Hall told Men’s Health UK.

“Nothing was particularly wrong with me, but everything was on the limit.

“Every time I went to the doctor, my kidney markers were always through the roof. My liver markers were through the roof. My haemoglobin. You know, my blood was super thick. And, of course, my body weight was super high. BMI, there was no recording for it.

“The doctor said to me in the end, ‘Look, if you lined the whole of the UK up, all 70 million people in a row, I would pick you out as the most likely person to have a heart attack and a stroke.’

“That’s what did it for me. It’s doomed. It’s inevitable doing strongman. I didn’t want to get to that point where I have a heart attack or stroke and then be like, ‘Damn! Why didn’t I walk away?’

“So, that’s why I walked away from the sport, and that’s why I won’t return to the sport. I don’t wanna get back into that stage where I’m going to bed at night and I’m seriously worried if I’m going to wake up or not.

“That was a serious concern, being 430lbs. Every night was a lottery.”

Eddie Hall’s next MMA fight

In April, Eddie Hall knocked Mariusz Pudzianowski to record a 30-second MMA debut win at KSW 105.

Talk immediately turned to what, and more importantly, who could be next for the British behemoth.

A fight with Francis Ngannou has been rumored, but there’s currently no concrete news about Hall’s next MMA outing.

“I’ve got no aspirations to be a ranked fighter,” Hall said when asked about his fighting future.

“I’ve got no aspirations to be a world champion.

“I’ve had the bulk of my success in strongman, and I think my best years of athleticism are behind me.

“I’ve got a few more years left and I just wanna enjoy it.

“I think the MMA keeps me fit, active, and I enjoy the fight scene. I always have.”
