Max Holloway is known for pointing to the ground before banging it out in the final seconds of his fights.
It worked perfectly when the BMF champion scored a last-second KO win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 in April 2024.
Max Holloway almost did the same thing when he fought Dustin Poirier for the third time at UFC 318 last month.
The taunt has become so famous other fighters have begun using it without realizing the dangerous position they are putting themselves in.

Amateur fighter KO’d after Max Holloway taunt
Glen Norman squared off against Byron Walker at American Kombat Alliance 48 on Saturday night.
The 2-1 amateur fighter was feeling good about himself as the seconds ticked down at the end of round two.
After hearing the clapper sound to signify the final 10 seconds, he pointed to the ground like Holloway.
Moments later, Walker caught him clean on the chin with a massive overhand right that knocked him out instantly.
As Norman collapsed to the floor, he ate another huge punch before the referee stepped in to save him.
Max Holloway’s next fight
Max Holloway’s disappointing UFC return timeline was recently revealed by the Hawaiian fan favorite.
It seems likely that an injury suffered at UFC 318 will keep Holloway out of action until 2026.
“My right hand still hurts,” he said in a video on his YouTube channel.
“If you have hopes of me fighting before the end of the year it’s probably not gonna happen. I’m seeing a specialist some time this week and I already met with my doctor and now I’ve got to meet a specialist but things are not looking up for me fighting one more time this year.
“What’s next, I couldn’t tell you, this stupid injury has pushed things back,” Holloway continued as he showed off an injured right hand.
